Assessment

At Farrington Gurney school we use assessment to

  • Make judgments on a child's current attainment
  • Keep parents informed of their child's progress
  • And, most importantly, to identify the next step in a child's learning

For internal tracking we make summative teacher assessments and share these at parent's evenings and in school reports. We let parents/carers know whether their child is on track to meet the end of year expectations, is working on the year group expectations but is unlikely to fully meet the expectations or whether their child is working below the year group expectations.

In addition to this, children sit statutory assessments at the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) and the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6), in addition to a Phonics screening assessment at the end of Year 1. A link to the School and College Performance Measures website is here and to our page is here.
